Observation Car

a scrapbook for train travel — the route, the views, the whole trip

what it is

A scrapbook app for train travel: a place to log a journey — the route, the stops, the views out the window — and keep the whole trip in one place instead of scattered across a camera roll.

the problem

A good train trip is made of small things — the landscape sliding by, a meal in the dining car, a town you'll never otherwise see. They're worth keeping, but they scatter: a few photos here, a half-remembered stop there, and the shape of the trip is gone by the time you're home.

how it works

Start a journey, trace the route, and add the moments as you go — a photo, a note, the name of a station. When you're back, you have a keepsake of the whole trip rather than a pile of loose pictures. Named for the observation car: the glass-walled lounge where the best of a train ride tends to happen.
